"I have given [my children and sister] every bronze done with the native floral and fauna of Wyoming.  They all show [Dawn's] love of nature and her home state of Wyoming.  Her woodcuts are the best I have ever seen.  Somehow she is able to incorporate many colors which is unusual in comparison to others I've seen." - Patty Lufkin, Owner of Blackhawk Gallery

"Dawn's paintings reach out and grab the observer in unique and marvelous ways."

Bird-lovers say that Wyoming’s Platte River Valley, where artist Dawn Senior-Trask has lived all her life, should instead be called “Raptor Valley“, for its amazing abundance and variety of birds of prey. Dawn and her husband Juel make a yearly float trip downriver in a rubber raft, and are always thrilled to see a pair of bald eagles at a huge nest high in an old cottonwood. The fishing is so good that this pair always raises two, and sometimes three, young to adulthood. Sometimes while Dawn is watching and sketching, a parent eagle will arrive with a large trout, leave it for the other parent to tear up and feed to the fledglings, and fly away to go fishing again.

Another bald eagle family lives where the wild and scenic Encampment River joins the North Platte. This nest is so close to Juel and Dawn’s home that they can see them every day, and observe them adding sticks to the nest; incubating the eggs; coming and going on fishing expeditions; the mother eagle crouched over her eaglets with wings outstretched to protect them from a spring blizzard.

Growing up among both bald and golden eagles made a tremendous impression on Dawn. Especially as a teenager and young woman, and even to this day, she is sometimes blessed with elaborate and vivid dreams -- her Lakota friends have told her they consider them true Eagle Visions -- which are so meaningful to her that she has based a novel-in-progress upon them, as well as numerous pieces of art.

"I don't like Dawn's drawings, I worship them and feel great pride and much humility that my poems struck such searing fire in her creative woodlands.  I can say only 'Bless her!', for sharing in my dreams, and working them into reality." - Poet Virginia Love Long, author of the book Squaw Winter
