More information about this Western life bronze plaque below.
This bronze plaque is based loosely on a pencil sketch, one of Dawn Senior-Trask's
favorite pieces done by her late father, Willoughby Senior. Both Willoughby's
sketch and Dawn's bronze capture the movement of cowboys driving a herd of
cattle down a steep hill near the Senior family’s cabin. Growing up in ranch
country, Dawn has experienced her share of roundups and cattle drives while
helping friends and neighbors. In childhood, her family’s bay quarter horse
Reverend wowed her with his talent at cutting as she helped sort calves or
lambs. The communication between horse and rider was so subtle that she never
knew quite how it worked. She simply looked at the calf or lamb she wanted, and
Reverend would get it for her. All she had to do was hold on for the ride!

In later years, Dawn’s copper-colored mare Candy, an ex-competitive roping and
reining horse, thrilled Dawn with her courage and speed in going after cattle.
Candy, normally a cautious horse, would do anything to get that cow -- leap a
broad, brimming irrigation ditch, thrash through thick willows, race from one
end of a pasture to another, or gallop hell-bent-for-leather through rough
sagebrush.

"I don't like Dawn's
drawings, I worship them and feel great pride and much humility
that my poems struck such searing fire in her creative woodlands. I can
say only 'Bless her!', for sharing in my dreams, and working them into
reality." - Poet Virginia Love Long, author of the book Squaw Winter
