Art at the Workplace
Corporate art is an asset aimed at improving the quality of life, and the
performance, of each and every employee.
Indeed, a recent survey supports the view that art in the workplace can be good
for business. The Business Committee for the Arts Inc. and the International
Association for Professional Art Advisors surveyed more than 800 employees
working for 32 U.S. companies ranging from law firms to food distributors. The
results reveal that a presence of art makes a tangible difference in how the
vast majority of employees view their job, work environment and employer.

Of those surveyed, 94 percent agreed art enhances the work environment while 84
percent concurred that it shows the company they are working for is interested
in improving quality of life. A majority of workers surveyed also agreed that
art reduces stress, sparks creativity, enhances morale and broadens diversity.
"It needs to be treated as a business asset,'' Jedlicka says." People have to
understand that it is not something that just hangs on the walls. Employees
these days are looking for quality opportunities. Certainly, the salary and
benefits have to be there, but the quality of the work environment also matters.
People want to be working in an environment that is visually stimulating."
Corporate art can also help strengthen the link between the company, employees
and the local community. At Raymond James, employees volunteer to serve as
campus tour guides. The strong emphasis on art at corporate headquarters also
contributes to nearly 400 employees volunteering at the renowned Gasparilla Art
Festival and other community activities.

Why Buy Corporate Art?
Art is a universal language. Thousands of years ago, early man told his stories
through pictures drawn on cave walls. Through the ages, artists told us their
history through drawings, paintings, architecture and sculptures. Joy, sorrow,
anger, peace - the emotions and experiences of the artists are shared in a
sketched line or a splash of color. Art, in its many forms of expression,
enriches our lives and can be a catalyst for personal empowerment, enhanced
creativity, community-building and positive social change.
More and more companies today are buying art for their offices. Indeed, a recent
survey supports the view that art in the workplace can be good for business. The
Business Committee for the Arts Inc. and the International Association for
Professional Art Advisors surveyed more than 800 employees working for 32 U.S.

Corporate art that adorns the walls and offices of their companies should be
eye-catching, evocative, and above all, effective in the workplace. Art can help
a company create visually dynamic, thought-provoking, and inviting surroundings
that enhance its image and helps attract and retain top employees.
Many companies are now using corporate art to help educate and inform their
employees, their customers and the public about their product or service. Art
can be a potent and influential tool for your business and allow you to convey
your special message in more compelling and innovative ways.

"I don't like Dawn's
drawings, I worship them and feel great pride and much humility
that my poems struck such searing fire in her creative woodlands. I can
say only 'Bless her!', for sharing in my dreams, and working them into
reality." - Poet Virginia Love Long, author of the book Squaw Winter
